Operational Overview

This 85-year old company originally focused on test equipment for engines, began to specialize in ignition systems and expanded into EMS services based on this expertise several years ago. Meanwhile PRUFEX is a system supplier for embedded control systems in the fields of small engines, e-motors, burners, fuel cells, IoT applications, and other electronically controlled devices. Company Differentiators

Prufrex is mainly focused on the industrial market, especially on embedded control units and systems like powertools, powersports, electrification of handheld systems, IoT applications and fuel cells.  They are an E2MS “Smart” manufacturer from SMD production, assembly of components, potting, winding technology to test and inspection.

Strategic Growth Drivers

Like other European EMS, they will benefit from the trend of re-shoring, and are looking to expand into certain new sectors that are aligned with their capabilities. They will grow their business with the OEM clients they have engaged with in the past two years and will consider expanding into ODM and JDM agreements. They report that they have not had as much trouble finding skilled workers as others have, but they are fairly new to the EMS industry. They report they had no lines down during the pandemic.

Facility Tour

unnamed

Eric and Dieter visited the Cadolzburg, Germany in December 2021. They met with Mark Ryan and Martin Zappe. The overall takeaway from the meeting was that this company comes at the EMS from a different angle, since they have such deep knowledge of electronic controls technology. They expect to expand from this niche somewhat but believe this deep and narrow focus will be the key to profitable growth.
