WERAP Group acquires AK Produktionstechnik and transfers it to WERAP Aerospace & Defense Ltd.

Bubikon/Salem– The WERAP Group, a leading European provider of electronic manufacturing services (EMS) specialising in electronics, cables, inductives and box builds, announces the acquisition of AK Produktionstechnik (AKP) from Salem at Lake Constance.

The company will be fully integrated into the group on 1 January 2026. The integration of AKP will result in the creation of the new WERAP Aerospace & Defense Ltd., which will focus on challenging projects in the aerospace and defence sectors.

‘With the integration of AKP, we are expanding our portfolio and strengthening our position as an up-and-coming European EMS company,’ explains David Smietanski, CEO of the WERAP Group. ‘In future, our customers will benefit from even more expertise from a single source, an expanded range of services and optimised scaling options throughout the entire product life cycle.’

AKP has many years of expertise in the manufacture of highly complex cable systems in the low-volume/high-mix sector. Cables and systems manufactured by AKP are already in use in numerous applications in the defence industry, aviation and satellite technology.

‘The integration of AKP gives us valuable know-how and in-depth industry experience, enabling us to better serve the growing needs of our customers in the aerospace and defence sectors,’ adds Markus Hoffmann, Chief Sales Officer of the WERAP Group. ‘One thing remains unchanged: our personalised service, top quality and stable, partnership-based cooperation.’

Special thanks go to the previous owners and founders, Anita & Wolfram Kussauer, who supported the merger early on and with great commitment. Wolfram Kussauer will remain actively involved in the new company with his expertise, contacts and passion for technology.

‘AK Produktionstechnik has always been our passion and our lifeblood. Together with our team in Salem, we have achieved and accomplished a great deal. We are delighted that things are now moving forward and that we even have the opportunity to present ourselves more broadly and in an even more optimised way on the market. Our trust in the WERAP Group was a key factor in our decision,’ said Mr and Mrs Kussauer.

The WERAP Group currently has five locations in Europe and supplies customers in the medical technology, defense, aerospace and industrial sectors. With the founding of WERAP Aerospace & Defence Ltd., the group is further expanding its market position and focusing on sustainable growth throughout the entire product life cycle, from R&D to after-sales.

Interested parties, customers and partners will have the opportunity to meet the WERAP Group in person at productronica in Munich: Hall B3, Stand 350.
