USTR Comment Period for Section 301 Investigation Closes January 17

Request for Comments in Four-Year Review of Actions Taken in the Section 301 Investigation: China’s Acts, Policies, and Practices Related to Technology Transfer, Intellectual Property, and Innovation

 

The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) is conducting a four-year review of the July 6, 2018 action, as modified, and the August 23, 2018 action, as modified, in the section 301 investigation of China’s Acts, Policies, and Practices Related to Technology Transfer, Intellectual Property, and Innovation.

As part of the review, USTR is seeking public comments on the effectiveness of the actions in achieving the objectives of the investigation, other actions that could be taken, and the effects of such actions on the United States economy, including consumers.

This comment period began in November and will close on January 17, 2023. To date, a total of 210 comments have been registered; few have come from electronics industry companies.

The ECIA is recommending that its members and other interested parties submit comments regarding the impact of the China tariffs on the electronics industry.
