Neways signs contract with BAE Systems Hägglunds at the Electronica 2022 for the mid-life update of CV90 of the Royal Netherlands Army

Munich – Neways is proud to sign a contract with BAE Systems Hägglunds for the mid-life update (MLU) of 118 CV90 medium armored vehicles of the Royal Netherlands Army. A total of 122 CV90s are undergoing a major modernization effort, as part of their mid-life update (MLU). The MLU is needed to keep the vehicle operationally relevant until the end of its service life in 2039.

The upgrade greatly increases the capabilities of the CV90 to the latest standards. The upgrade of the first 4 vehicles will take place in Sweden, after which the MLU for the remaining 118 vehicles will take place in the Netherlands. Neways will produce, assemble, and test high-end cable assemblies for 118 vehicles, guaranteeing important futureproof upgrades for key applications such as the vehicle’s new situational awareness system – which will greatly improve the level of detail available to its operators, yielding substantial safety and reliability benefits.

This contract by BAE Systems Hägglunds is a recognition of Neways’ unique capabilities for delivering high-end solutions built to the highest of standards – fit to meet demanding conditions reliably. Production is scheduled to start in 2023 and expected to conclude in 2026.

The project guarantees work for about 7 people until 2026. “After performing a thorough supplier down selection process aiming towards optimal quality, capability, on time deliveries, and cost, we are pleased to announce the signing of the contract with Neways as our preferred cable manufacturing partner in the Netherlands”, says Wim Eikelboom, Head of Procurement at BAE Systems Hägglunds. We are looking forward to delivering on time in accordance with the Dutch customer’s expectations and high demands.
