IEMI Event in India Focuses on Aerospace and Defense: July 29-30

IPC India is gearing up to host the third annual Integrated Electronics Manufacturing & Interconnections (IEMI) events, set to be held in Penang, Malaysia, and Bangalore, India. As the largest industry networking gatherings in South Asia for the electronics sector, the events now have Electronics Clap as the official media partner, bringing an additional layer of coverage and insights to the community.

Malaysia, as India’s third-largest trading partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), plays a crucial role in the bilateral trade relationship. In 2023, the trade volume between India and Malaysia reached $20 billion, with expectations of it growing to $25 billion in the next three years. The events are seen as an opportunity to foster collaboration in the semiconductor and electronics manufacturing sectors.

IEMI events attract participants from various segments of the electronics industry, including Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS), PCB manufacturers, cable and wire harness manufacturers, advanced packaging and semiconductor companies, and electronics industry suppliers. The events also draw interest from vertical market OEMs in aerospace, defense, automotive, medical, industrial automation, railways, and telecom.

Key features of the IEMI events include product displays, presentations by industry leaders, panel discussions, a vendor development program, business matchmaking meetings with international delegates, standards development sessions, awards programs, hand soldering competitions, and a world wire harness competition.

With themes like “advanced packaging of semiconductors” for the Penang event and “defense and aerospace” for the Bangalore event, IEMI 2024 aims to address critical industry topics and provide a platform for strategic alliances, export leads, business partnerships, and investment promotion.

John Mitchell, IPC President and CEO, emphasized the dynamic nature of the electronics manufacturing markets in India and Malaysia. He sees IEMI 2024 as an opportunity for industry members to expand their business and supply chain.

Gaurab Majumdar, Executive Director of IPC’s regional office in India, highlighted the success of the IEMI 2023 events, citing positive feedback from over 1,000 attendees from more than 10 countries, 200 business-to-business meetings, and various educational and networking activities.

As the largest industry networking event in South Asia for the electronics industry, IEMI 2024, in collaboration with Electronics Clap, is anticipated to make significant contributions to the sector’s progress. Pre-event activities, beginning in January 2024 across various locations, aim to set the stage for fruitful discussions and collaborations during the main events in Penang and Bangalore.
