EMSNOW Executive Interview: X-Treme Series Auto Dry Cabinets Manufacturer – EMT Electronics CEO Mehmet Can Küçük

X-Treme Series Auto Dry Cabinets Manufacturer, EMT Electronics is a privately held technology group with over three decades of experience driving innovation across critical industries. EMSNOW caught up with Chairman and CEO Mehmet Can Küçük to learn more about the background and mission of this engineering-driven company.

EMSNOW: Tell us about yourself and your company.

Coming from an engineering background, I’ve always believed that true innovation happens at the intersection of technical excellence and real-world application. That belief has shaped the way we operate at EMT Electronics — a company built on turning complex ideas into dependable, field-proven solutions.

With over 38 years of experience across forensic science, ballistic testing, and industrial dry storage systems, EMT Electronics has grown into a trusted partner for mission-critical industries. Our X-Treme Series Auto Dry Cabinets, for instance, are engineered to meet the highest standards in aerospace, defense, medical electronics, and advanced manufacturing, where precision and reliability are non-negotiable.

Being based in Turkey gives us logistical and operational agility across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa. At the same time, our newly opened office in Arlington, Texas enhances our proximity to customers in the Americas — allowing us to deliver faster, more responsive service globally.

I see leadership as a responsibility to drive purposeful progress — not just by building great products, but by fostering meaningful, long-term partnerships. At EMT Electronics, our goal is to help manufacturers minimize downtime, improve yields, and stay competitive in a world defined by rapid technological change and high expectations.

EMSNOW: Your system is known as the ‘fastest dry cabinets for drying and baking electronic components.’ Explain why these features are such a breakthrough for sensitive components?

Absolutely. Moisture-sensitive devices (MSDs) are at serious risk of failure if exposed to humidity—even briefly. Traditional drying methods can take many hours and sometimes days, delaying production and increasing risk. X-Treme Series Auto Dry Cabinets offer industry-leading drying and baking speeds, reaching <0.5%Rh in record time and supporting high-temp baking without compromising component safety. This speed not only prevents microcracking and delamination but also shortens overall handling time. For industries where uptime and reliability are critical, that’s a game changer.

EMSNOW: The list of current customers is certainly impressive. What feedback have you received from them regarding these systems?

Many of our customers operate in high-pressure industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical electronics, and defense—sectors where failure is not an option. We are proud to serve over 20 customers from the Top 100 defense list, with several ranking within the top ten. They’ve shared that the X-Treme Series has significantly improved their moisture management processes, reduced floor space needs thanks to high-density storage, and enabled more agile production workflows.

EMSNOW: Besides being fast, the systems are ‘smart’. What does that mean exactly?

When we say “smart,” we’re referring to advanced remote monitoring, control, and integration capabilities. Our systems use sensor-rich architecture, connectivity features like MES/ERP integration to automate decision-making. For instance, the cabinets can detect MSD exposure time limits, log traceability data, adjust drying profiles automatically, and alert operators before issues arise. In short, they make moisture control intelligent, predictive, and hands-off.

EMSNOW: How do customers integrate them into their automated SMT lines?

Integration is seamless. X-Treme Series cabinets support standard protocols for Industry 4.0 environments, including IPC/JEDEC standards, and come with built-in APIs for easy integration with pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, and MES systems.

EMSNOW: What end markets are finding these systems most compelling?

The strongest demand is coming from areas where component reliability and traceability are non-negotiable. This includes aerospace, automotive, medical electronics, military/defense, high-speed networking, and electro-optical systems—where even minimal humidity exposure can compromise long-term performance.

We’re also seeing growing interest from additive manufacturing, where materials such as powders, resins, and printed components require carefully controlled environments throughout the production cycle.

In EMS environments, where a wide variety of components are handled and production schedules can shift rapidly, our cabinets help ensure consistent moisture control, reduce handling complexity, and support quality across high-mix, time-sensitive workflows.

Another key application is long-term storage and obsolescence management. Organizations managing component inventories for legacy systems rely on our cabinets to ensure stable, dry conditions for years—preserving part integrity and availability for mission-critical use.

Across all of these applications, our systems are valued not just for their speed and intelligence, but for helping them to improve process control, reduce waste, and future-proof their operations.

EMSNOW: EMT Electronics comes out of the ‘critical electronics’ industry. What is that and where is growth coming from specifically?

“Critical electronics” refers to applications where component failure is simply not an option—think aerospace, medical devices, defense systems, and other mission-critical areas. These sectors demand the highest levels of reliability and traceability, and that’s where EMT Electronics has its roots.

Our growth is driven by listening closely to customer needs and adapting our solutions accordingly. We prioritize flexible, scalable products that can keep pace with evolving technologies and increasing quality demands. By aligning our roadmap with real-world challenges, we ensure EMT Electronics remains a trusted partner in advanced electronics manufacturing.

EMSNOW: What broader trends are you seeing in the market? How are you responding to recent geopolitical disruptions?

We’re seeing three key trends: rising demand for traceability, factory automation, and localized, resilient supply chains. To support that, we’re helping customers reduce dependence on legacy manual processes, digitize their dry storage, and integrate with smart manufacturing platforms. Our cabinets are designed to be future-proof: network-connected, energy-efficient, and ready to scale as production evolves.

EMSNOW: Is there anything else you would like to say to our readers?

We’re excited to introduce our newest innovation: X-Smart Light.

Our latest innovation, X-Smart Light, is much more than a dry cabinet—it’s an intelligent storage solution designed to optimize workflow and accuracy in component handling. Built around the “pick-by-light” system, X-Smart Light guides operators visually, reducing picking errors and speeding up retrieval times. Its smart interface integrates drying functions with inventory management, ensuring moisture-sensitive components are stored safely while improving traceability and operational efficiency.

At the core of this system is our proprietary software, MSDTrack. While the cabinet handles physical storage and drying, MSDTrack is what brings intelligence to the process. It monitors material exposure times, calculates remaining floor life, and provides full digital traceability. The pick-by-light functionality itself is enabled and orchestrated by MSDTrack—making the entire process accurate, efficient, and responsive to production needs.

X-Smart Light also supports ERP integration, providing an optional capability that allows users to manage their existing databases and workflows directly with other management systems in the company.

This combination of smart storage, advanced moisture control and full traceability helps manufacturers minimize waste, reduce downtime, and increase productivity. X-Smart Light is proof that advanced moisture control can be accessible, affordable, and reliable — the future of dry cabinets is here.
