Consumer Electronics Show Opens in Las Vegas with IBM Keynote

ces logoIBM will officially open CES by featuring its president and CEO, Ginni Rometty. Rometty will share a unique outlook for how technology — built on a foundation of responsibility and trust — will significantly improve how businesses operate and people work and live.

CES® 2019 is the largest and most influential tech event in the world – where the entire technology ecosystem gathers to conduct business, launch products, build brands and partner to solve some of today’s most pressing societal challenges. More than 4,500 exhibitors will launch transformative tech to more than 180,000 attendees, encompassing 5G connectivity, artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, smart cities and resilience, sports, robotics and more. CES 2019 will feature brand new and expanded exhibit areas, 250 conference sessions and 1,100 speakers, and more than 1,200 startups from over 50 countries.

Other speakers include Verizon and its CEO Hans Vestberg who will explore the future of connectivity through 5G as it fuels new technologies and services that will blend our physical and digital worlds. Verizon is the world’s first commercial 5G broadband internet service, and as a global internet backbone, Verizon’s undersea cable network carries much of the world’s internet traffic.

On Wednesday, AMD president and CEO Dr. Lisa Su will provide a view into the diverse applications for new computing technologies ranging from solving some of the world’s toughest challenges to the future of gaming, entertainment and virtual reality with the potential to redefine modern life. AMD is catapulting computing, gaming, and visualization technologies forward with the world’s first 7nm high-performance CPUs and GPUs, providing the power required to reach technology’s next horizon.

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao will speak about the future of drones and self-driving technology and how they will revolutionize transportation. Following Secretary Chao’s address, a panel of experts will discuss the importance of establishing public trust to ensure consumers understand the benefits of self-driving vehicles and that deployment of the technology is safe.Wrapping up Wednesday, AT&T Communications CEO John Donovan and MediaLink Chairman and CEO Michael Kassan will explore the 4th Industrial Revolution, as 5G opens up a new world of opportunity for robotic manufacturing, AR/VR and mixed reality, sporting experiences, public safety and beyond.
