Joint stand on the subject of sustainable assembly soldering at productronica

At productronica 2021, which will take place from 16 to 19 November at the Munich exhibition grounds, the companies Emil Otto GmbH, Feinhütte Halsbrücke GmbH and Eutect GmbH will present the topic of assembly soldering in all process steps at a joint stand. In addition, all three companies will be presenting product innovations to the trade public for the first time.

“We have been working closely together for just under a year now and for us, the joint trade fair appearance represents the next step in this cooperation. The sustainable, resource-saving soldering process plays a central role here, as all three companies are working on new innovative solutions in this area,” explains Markus Geßner, Marketing and Sales Manager at Emil Otto GmbH. Lothar Patzig, Managing Director of Feinhütte Halsbrücke GmbH adds that the cooperation is based on an open exchange of technology and maximum solution orientation. Particularly in the case of soldering technology challenges, the customer can thus request and retrieve concentrated specialist knowledge. “No matter how high the customer’s need for support, we representing the three companies can develop targeted solutions for the customer and will present this at productronica,” emphasizes Matthias Fehrenbach, Managing Director of Eutect GmbH.

However, all three managing directors will also bring new products to the trade fair. Among other things, Emil Otto will be represented at productronica with the new flux hybrid EO-Y-014. EO-Y-014 is universally suitable for wave and selective soldering of printed circuit boards and contains organic, halogen-free, activating additives formulated with a low addition of synth. resin. This flux has been developed in a combination with lead and lead-free solders specially adapted to the thermal requirements of the soldering process. The flux contains special alcoholic additives to stabilize and improve drying times compared to conventional water or partial water based fluxes. Furthermore, Emil Otto will present other new solder wire products together with Feinhütte Halsbrücke. “We are in the final stages of product development here. But what we can already reveal is that we will be able to present a solder wire that will set new standards in terms of process stability and processing quality,” says Geßner.

Feinhütte Halsbrücke will also present the GreenTin+ tin to the trade audience, which consists of secondary material with a purity level of up to 99.99%. “Feinhütte Halsbrücke is the first tin manufacturer in the world to be able to provide certified proof of the use of 100% recycled material. The residues thus produced in the customer process, such as drosses, ashes, runners, sludges, chips or solder pastes, are processed by us according to the latest state of the art in order to make metals contained there, such as tin, usable again in the energy-saving full recycling process in pyro- and hydrometallurgical plants. “, says Patzig. In this way, Feinhütte Halsbrücke is opening up a wide range of new possibilities for customers with the highest demands on the purity of tin or alloys, without having to deviate from their usual requirements. With a purity level of 99.99 %, GreenTin+ is also well above the general standards of the market, which is why it can be used to manufacture extremely high-quality sustainable products, for example in the field of electronics manufacturing for consumer goods electronics.

The scope of the new presentations is rounded off by an innovative inline production process as well as a newly developed soldering process from Eutect GmbH. With the E-ssembly inline production line, Eutect will present a completely new concept for highly flexible, cycle-time and cost-optimised series production, which not only demonstrates new possibilities in the field of selective soldering, but can also be used in the entire electronics manufacturing process. For this purpose, Eutect integrated the planar mover XPlanar from Beckhoff with the new production cell E-cell.

Fehrenbach and his team will also be presenting the newly developed SRS soldering process. SRS stands for Sustained Ring Soldering and, thanks to prefabricated rings made of solder wire, offers a new option for cycle-time-optimized, highly accurate and economically sustainable assembly soldering. “By means of the SRS module, prefabricated solder rings can be placed on and around THT pins, which are then melted by means of laser, piston or induction soldering processes, as well as by means of IR emitters, hot air or thermodes,” Fehrenbach describes the basic principle of SRS soldering.
