VISIBILITY- Cornerstone of Business Intelligence
FOCUS on the right things to create actionable intelligence
Abstract
Many manufacturing operations today could significantly improve productivity, product quality and reduce cost by automated collection and display of real-time data for Line Utilization, OEE, change-over time, DPMO, First Pass Yield, Scrap Level, WIP status, etc. Without automated means of data collection and display, these KPIs and others remain invisible or are seen far too late for effective use as actionable intelligence. It is very easy to create real time displays and fancy dashboards. The real challenge facing manufacturers today is filling the dashboard with the right information to really make a difference. In this webinar we will explore several actual case studies where the right visibility has made a huge impact in continuous improvement, and we will focus on the technologies available today to achieve this kind of effective visibility, the cornerstone to business intelligence.

Michael Ford:
MES Product Marketing Director, Valor Computerized Systems:
|
|
Michael Ford, with the successful development and implementation of several key systems behind him, was chosen in 1988 to design and lead Sony's corporate "Lean Manufacturing" MES project, TiMMS (Totally Integrated Manufacturing System). Leaving the UK to lead the TiMMS project in Japan, Michael designed the system architecture and set up an international software development team. In 1996, Michael returned to the UK to evolve TiMMS into a commercial product which was fully introduced into the open market in 2005. Though TiMMS was becoming a successful business, in 2008 Sony decided to withdraw from the manufacturing software market as part of an internal process to reduce the number of non-core business operations. In September 2008, Michael joined Valor as MES Product Marketing Director, responsible for the new integrated MES platform, DynamiX.
