MicroCare Europe to Demonstrate Breakthrough DuPont™ Vertrel® Sion™ Cleaning Agent

Nov 08, 2013

The leading global manufacturer of precision cleaning solutions, MicroCare Corporation, will have the ability to supply the new DuPont™ Vertrel® Sion™ Precision Cleaning Fluid in Germany and Eastern Europe.

The new Vertrel® Sion™ cleaner was developed by the DuPont Corp. in response to world-wide market demand for high-performance cleaning products with low environmental impact. This product will target high-end industrial cleaning applications, such as vapour degreasing of electronics, metal parts, ceramics and glass. It will replace old-style chlorinated and brominated solvent systems as well as poor performing aqueous cleaning systems. The innovative new technology will be introduced in Germany at Productronica, where MicroCare will demonstrate the cleaner’s surprising capabilities.

The proprietary Vertrel® Sion™ precision cleaning product complies with REACH, F-gas regulations, and other international environmental regulations. Technically classified as an hydrofluorolefin (HFO) solvent, the non-flammable product is completely ozone-safe, has the lowest global warming impact of any modern cleaner, and has excellent toxicity ratings as well.

Tom Tattersall, MicroCare Vice President and Chief Operating Officer said, "The DuPont™ Vertrel® Sion™ fluid is a real breakthrough in terms of environmental management, especially in Europe where the need to replace chlorinated and brominated solvents is real. The new Vertrel® Sion fluid is environmentally-friendly but still offers the intense cleaning power required for many of today’s tough cleaning applications."

"Since the DuPont™ Vertrel® Sion™ product is non-flammable and very safe for both people and the planet," added MicroCare Regional Manager Scott Wells, who supervises MicroCare Europe, "it will be very easy for engineers to ensure they are using these products properly, safely, cost-effectively and in an environmentally-friendly way. We are very pleased to be able to offer this product in these countries."

The new cleaning fluid will be demonstrated at the Productronica exposition in Munich in an operating vapour degreaser made by C.C. Hydrosonics of the UK. Lee Casey, GM of C.C. Hydrosonics, noted that many attendees at the show may never have seen a vapour degreaser before. "Germany has been particularly active in advancing the efforts to minimize global warming, so this may be the first chance for younger engineers to learn about the speed, effectiveness and efficiencies of modern vapour degreasing. We expect the stand to be packed with visitors."

DuPont™ Vertrel® Sion™ has been specially formulated to be inherently stable, so there is no need for acid testing, stabiliser maintenance or solvent monitoring. Unlike complex water-cleaning systems, there are no surfactants in the Vertrel® Sion fluid, so washing is fast, residue free, and easily recyclable. The new fluid offers excellent cleaning results because it has very low surface tension and very low viscosity, making it easy to clean blind vias and to flush underneath tightly-spaced BGA chips. The net result of all this chemical innovation is that cleaning costs are minimized and the environmental footprint is dramatically reduced.

With an impressive precision cleaning portfolio, MicroCare cleaning products are renowned globally as versatile, safe and reliable.  These high performance cleaners are used on production lines throughout the world to clean diverse products used in the electronics, medical devices, aerospace and telecommunications industries. The full range of MicroCare Corp. products will be exhibited in Hall A4 Stand 515 at Productronica in Munich.
