Calmer activity follows substantial order increases over last few months
Mar 16, 2010
Electronic component orders slowed down in February after a big leap in the first month of the year, according to the monthly report compiled by the Electronic Components Association (ECA). The 12-month average, comparing this year's results to last year's, continued an ascent that began last summer.
ECA's monthly report consolidates order
information collected in confidence from leading electronic component manufacturers. The latest results seem to indicate a backing off period after a surge of orders, according to ECA President Bob Willis.
"Component manufacturers had a jump in orders over the last few months to replenish inventories for end products such as cell phones and notebook computers," says Willis. "I think we're seeing things even off a bit now that end-product manufacturers have brought their inventories back to levels that can meet anticipated demand."
