Feb 09, 2010
Kimball Electronics Group, Inc., a subsidiary of Kimball International, Inc. (NASDAQ: KBALB), announced that it has partnered with Water Optimizer LLC to produce that company's smart irrigation technology systems to serve the North American markets. Electronic water optimizers monitor and control water distribution for public utilities, landscape professionals, golf
courses, homeowners, and developers. Kimball Electronics Group is a global top-twenty-ranked contract electronics manufacturing services company specializing in durable electronics and integrated systems and assemblies for the industrial, medical, automotive and public safety markets.
Designed by water conservation professionals, the WaterOptimizer(R) is a smart system that provides benefits to regional and municipal water utilities as well as individual homeowners. The system allows the home or business owner to better control their water usage by using only the water they need, which can equate to 70 percent water savings to the owner of the system. Currently the WaterOptimizer(R) is deployed in California, Florida, Texas, and Utah, reducing demand by managing one of the most inefficient uses of potable water-irrigation.
Public demands for greater environmental responsibility and effective actions are driving increased development and growth of electronic controls that moderate or regulate energy and water usage in both the commercial and consumer markets.
Thomas O'Connor, P.E., Water Optimizer, stated, "This system was developed by people interested in conservation. It was designed to provide homeowners, utilities, water managers and developers with real control - precision irrigation so that they don't have to sacrifice the quality of their landscapes while protecting water resources." O'Connor added, "Kimball shares our vision and concerns about wise resource usage. They are a perfect partner."
Dennis Gradler, Director of Business Development, Industrial Solutions, Kimball Electronics Group, stated,"We are excited to be chosen by Water Optimizer as their strategic manufacturing partner. We understand the growing concerns about the use of natural resources and solving environmental issues such as the need for clean and sustainable water supplies."Said Gradler, "We arecommitted to supporting the development of sustainable solutions."
