ECD announces total thermal profiling support through newly designed website
Nov 23, 2009
ECD, a provider of thermal profiling equipment and software, announces another step in its program to make the thermal management program as easy and seamless as possible for its customers. The recently completed ECD corporate website, www.ecd.com, is designed to be both sophisticated and user friendly, providing
thermal profiling industry information, equipment information, and the opportunity to purchase a full range of equipment, software, and collateral accessories online.
It is sophisticated in that customers and prospects can come to the site and learn much of what they need to know about thermal profiling through the ECD "Thermosphere" Blog posts, Press Room posts of ECD authored articles and press releases, downloading of relevant product information and tech sheets, and registering for ECD-University free online classes on profiling methods/software/equipment. And since having everything readily available means smoother profiling, they can also buy equipment, software, and accessories through the site's Thermal Profiling Superstore. Periodic email blasts tie in the latest developments and applications to relevant portions of the ECD site, and RSS feeds are available.
According to Todd Clifton, ECD's Director of Electronic Business Development, ECD listened to what customers needed in the way of support and services, and made it available. "We even have thermocouples for sale, and sales support for non-ECD partner products such as solder paste mixers and viscometers through the ECD Thermal Profiling Superstore. Our goal is to make the entire thermal profiling process easy to understand, easy to afford, and easy to do. All our products, programs, and classes follow that goal. According to our feedback, it's working beautifully. I cannot tell you the number of compliments and thank-yous we've received for both the simplicity and the completeness of the site. You can easily navigate it to do anything from buying equipment and accessories to registering for profiling classes taught online at your own particular level."
Clifton said ECD's Thermal Quality Management Program (ThQM) is also online; and although it is a program exclusive to ECD, is available to both customers and non-customers alike as an industry service. The unique program guides customers through all the PCB thermal profiling stages, from PCB characterization and verification, all the way through oven verification. It provides helpful checklists to evaluate a company's current method efficiency and suggests proven and effective steps to follow throughout the entire thermal process. Checklists to develop the critically important dialogue between OEMs and EMS providers are also included - something which surveys show is absolutely essential to the success of the thermal process in this age of lead-free soldering and thermally sensitive components.
