STI Electronics updates its quality system to ISO9001-2008

Nov 20, 2009

STI Electronics, Inc., a full service organization providing training, electronic and industrial distribution, consulting, laboratory analysis, prototyping, and small- to medium-volume PCB assembly, announces that it has updated its ISO 9001-2000 certification to ISO-9001-2008.

STI has updated and revised its certification of ISO9001-2000 to become certified to ISO9001-2008. This became official when Perry Johnson Registrars issued a new ISO certificate in October after a surveillance audit was conducted in August 2009. The revision to ISO9001-2000 updated some of the language and further clarified some of the requirements to make them more universally applied.

"Through the update and revision of its quality management system to ISO9001-2008, STI Electronics' engineering department is proving their commitment to continuous improvement of its quality program," said Mel Scott, STI Electronics, Inc.'s Quality Manager.

The ISO 9001 quality standard is the most widely recognized and established quality management system framework in the world. The ISO 9001 standard outlines a number of requirements, which provides STI Electronics to meet customer expectations and achieve customer satisfaction. One of the quality management principles of ISO 9001 is the continual improvement of overall performance. Compliance means that distributors have the ability to handle customer specific guidelines and provide customized services while maintaining a consistent level of quality throughout its operations.

To qualify for AS9120:2002-10, ISO 9001:2008, STI demonstrated its ability to consistently provide products that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. The company aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

The goal of STI is to meet or exceed any standards of workmanship demanded by its customers. No one in the industry is better prepared to meet the expanding standards of quality required in today's competitive market than STI Electronics. The company protects customers' proprietary designs and right to privacy, especially those relating to PCB assembly services for the military in which defense and security issues are key. While STI Electronics already has experience with assembly for the military and aerospace industry, the ITAR specification now allows the company to do work in cases when design drawings and products require confidentiality.
