Asustek and Foxconn land desktop PC orders

Asustek Computer and Foxconn Electronics (the registered trade name of Hon Hai Precision Industry) recently secured desktop-PC orders from Sony and Hewlett-Packard (HP), according to the Chinese-language Economic Daily News. Asustek will begin the shipments to Sony in the second half of this year, the paper indicated. Asustek and Foxconn declined to comment on the report, citing customer confidentiality. In the first quarter of 2005, HP was the world's second-largest PC vendor, whereas Sony ranked eighth in the portable-PC segment, according to International Data Corporation (IDC). source: DigiTimes
