CTS Corporation announces release of Monoblock low ripple ceramic filters
Jul 25, 2005
CTS Corporation, a global supplier of ceramic filters for the communications and wireless applications, has announced the introduction of the Monoblock LR series of low ripple ceramic filters. These new filters are specifically designed to meet the requirements for consumer cellular repeaters. A cellular repeater solves communication problems in areas with poor signal reception such as inside buildings or outside areas due to line-of-site distance or obstructions. Boosting or amplifying the weak RF signal enhances performance. This is typically accomplished by cascading a series of filters and amplifiers to achieve the rejection requirements required due to the power amplification of the repeater. However, this action increases ripple, causing signal distortion, dropped calls, and possible system damage. CTS' Monoblock LR series of filters exhibits very low ripple and greater rejection thus minimizing this effect. Typical performance for the Monoblock LR filter in the PCS protocol is greater than 20 dB of rejection 10 MHz off the pass band with ripple of 1.6 dB. The Monoblock LR filter simplifies the design and manufacture of the consumer repeater and reduces the number of filters required in design. This filter is said to provide excellent signal quality while reducing customer design and manufacturing costs. For more information, e-mail Irenio.Ortega@CTSWireless.com.
