New dynamic assembly system from Flexlink
Mar 17, 2003
FlexLink's has announced the launch of DAS - Dynamic Assembly System - a pallet based system that claims to facilitate final assembly and box build due to its unique flexibility and modular concept. DAS is a modular factory concept platform that incorporates standard modules with operational/quality software to create manufacturing solutions. DAS supports concurrent engineering, fast capacity increases or changes of line layouts with a minimum of production losses, enabling shorter assembly and delivery times, faster installations, step-by-step automation and higher degree of space utilization. DAS has been designed to cope with customer order initiated assembly and less than 24 hours production lead-time. By utilizing pallet flow buffers and control software, simple balancing of both production mix and volume can be achieved. Benefits of DAS implementation are said to include integrated control systems in functional assembly modules; automated shop floor logistics; improved factory floor utilization; short throughput time for orders; easy changes in production; good ergonomics/low noise level; more efficient assembly; and higher quality production.
