Mar 07, 2003
Next-Generation Device for DVD Players Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE:TER) announced Amlogic, Inc., a supplier of highly integrated system-on-a-chip (SOC) solutions in the multimedia and internet consumer markets, has selected Teradyne to test a next-generation DVD decoder. Amlogic's selection of Teradyne, in a competitive design win, was based on the test economics and converter test capability of the J750 test system and Teradyne's global applications support. "Our DVD decoder IC is a complex SOC device with a sophisticated digital to analog converter (DAC)," said John Zhong, President and CEO, Amlogic, Inc. "We selected Teradyne because the J750's Converter Test Option (CTO) and scan capability matched our test needs, while keeping our overall test costs down. In addition, with headquarters in San Jose, CA, and offices in Shanghai and Shenzhen, China, we found Teradyne's worldwide customer and applications support, particularly in China, a critical factor to support our global manufacturing." "Amlogic is a leading developer of MPEG digital video technology," said Hock Chiang, Managing Director, Teradyne Semiconductor Test Operations in China. "We look forward to supporting Amlogic's test needs, as it delivers advanced, second generation, single-chip Progressive-Scan output DVD multimedia processors, as well as future digital audio and video devices for consumer applications. As Teradyne China continues to be part of the growing made-in-China IC industry, our Integra J750 architecture is well designed to offer the lowest cost of test to the highly competitive consumer electronics industry."Source: PCBnewsline
