Mar 18, 2005
Kyzen Corporation has announced that it received a visit from Astronaut Barry E. Wilmore, Commander, USN NASA Astronaut (Pilot), at its facility in Nashville, TN. The visit was sponsored by ATK Thiokol Inc. and began at 8 a.m. when Wilmore arrived at Kyzen Corporation. Wilmore, along with representatives from ATK Thiokol, met with company management for an overview on Kyzen and then participated in a facility tour. ATK representatives included Melodie de Guibert from the company's Space Flight Awareness department, and Fred Brasfield and Jeffrey Leibold from its Procurement/Program. At 9:30 a.m., Wilmore spoke to Kyzen employees and their families about the programs at NASA. The presentation followed by a Q&A session, personalized autographs, photographs and a one-on-one session. Wilmore departed Kyzen in the afternnon after lunch with Kyzen employees and their families. The reason for the visit was IONOX BC Kyzen's cleaning solvent that ATK Thiokol uses to clean propellant mix bowls and casting tooling for the NASA space programs. IONOX BC is a concentrated cleaning chemistry derived from one of nature's most effective and flexible solvent molecules - alcohol. The product is formulated with a blend of proprietary Kyzen alcohol and glycol ether acetate. The cleaner features NPA ratings of Health 2, Flammability 1 and Reactivity 0. Benefits and features include high-strength alcohol for fast, effective cleaning; completely water soluble, allowing for easy rinsing without oily residues; low odor and environmental emissions; low industrial toxicity and non-flammability that minimize workplace hazards; low surface tension that allows for cleaning of tight spaces and easy rinsing; and dries without residue and may not require rinsing.
