LaBarge lands $12.3 Million contract for Northrop Grumman mail sorting system

Mar 15, 2005

LaBarge, Inc. (Amex: LB) has been awarded a $12.3 million contract to provide Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) with electromechanical subsystems and modules for a state-of-the-art automated mail sorting system.

The LaBarge-built equipment will be part of the Automated Flats Sorting Machine - Automated Induction (AFSM-AI) program -- a fleet of machines that together can sort 26 billion pieces of flat mail per year. Under the contract, LaBarge will manufacture subassemblies that enhance the sorter in-feed units the Company built between 1999 and 2002 under a separate contract, as well as modules that are part of an overall AFSM system upgrade.

LaBarge, a Northrop Grumman preferred supplier, will perform the work at its Huntsville, Ark., facility. Production on the contract is expected to begin July 2005 and run through July 2006.
