Compal to foray into DSC market

Notebook maker Compal Electronics, already branching into handset and PDA production, is making a foray into digital still cameras (DSCs), according to the Chinese-language Commercial Times.The newspaper reported that the company announced yesterday it will invest US$3 million in its notebook manufacturing plant in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province (China), preparing for the production of DSCs as well as projectors and LCD TVs.The company is expected to ship three million LCD TVs this year.
