HP places major 2005 notebook order with Quanta

Hewlett-Packard (HP) has placed major notebook orders for 2005 with Quanta Computer, with volume shipments scheduled to begin in the second quarter of next year, according to sources close to the deal. Under the contract, Quanta will manufacture HP 15-inch consumer notebooks to replace two 15.4-inch models, codenamed Lopez and Ford II, which are currently manufactured by Compal Electronics, the sources said.
