FCI designs 280-Position PCI Express card edge connectors

FCI has introduced two new 280-position vertical card edge connectors that enable the implementation of high-speed, serial PCI Express signaling to riser cards in rack-mount servers.  

Connector series 10037901 is keyed to accept either a standard PCI Express x8 add-in card or a 280-position riser card that can support PCI, PCI-X or PCI Express add-in cards. Part series 10027747 is keyed to accept a unique 3-slot riser that can provide two x8 PCI Express slots supporting x4 links and one PCI-X slot in a 2U form factor.

"Both connectors are designed to accept a 1.58mm (0.062") thick add-in card," said David Sideck, FCI Regional Marketing Manager.   "Molded polarization keys on the connectors and corresponding notches on the add-in cards prevent improper card insertion."

Typical pricing for a connector with tin-lead soldertail finish is $1.20 each for 1000-piece order quantities. Samples are available for delivery, with production lead times from stock to 6 weeks.
