Memec Insight ships record number of low cost design boards
Oct 01, 2004
Memec Insight, a division of leading global semiconductor distributor Memec, has announced that it has shipped more than 1,500 of its low cost Spartan-3 LC design boards.
In addition to Memec’s LC development kit, the division is now shipping its Spartan-3 MB kit, a full-featured prototype platform. Both development kits leverage the low cost and platform features of Spartan-3 to provide complete, cost-effective solutions for developing designs and applications based on the Xilinx Spartan-3 FPGA family.
With Xilinx delivering the higher density 3S1500 devices, Memec Insight’s Spartan-3 MB kit bundles a full-featured, expandable Spartan-3 based system board with a power supply, user guide and reference designs. Utilizing the 1.5 million-gate Xilinx Spartan-3 device in the 676-pin fine-grid array package, the MB system board includes on-board features that simplify system prototyping and proof of concept projects.
“As an industry leader and expert on FPGA technology, Memec is providing the design solutions, educational resources and deep engineering expertise necessary to help customers realize their time-to-market requirements quickly.” said Tim Barber, director of marketing for Memec Insight.
“Memec Insight has demonstrated inherent technical expertise and innovation surrounding the Spartan-3 FPGA family and is a valued Xilinx partner,” said Richard Terrill, senior manager of Spartan solutions for Xilinx.
