Feb 14, 2003
Inventec, one of the top five notebook manufacturers in Taiwan, posted strong January sales of NT$7 billion, growing 80% year-on-year.According to the Chinese-language Economic Daily News, market analysts predict Inventec’s first-quarter sales to reach NT$20 billion and grow a steady 10-15% per quarter on increasing notebook and server shipments. The company may achieve sales of NT$90 billion to NT$100 billion this year, up 30% from last year’s NT$68.3 billion, analysts said. However, the company declined to confirm the estimate and said that it has not made an official sales forecast for this year. The company also told Economic Daily News that it estimated January sales to be much lower than December’s NT$7.18 billion due to the low season effect. However, the result turned out to be better than expected as demand for servers has been strong. Inventec also attributed the growth to an increase in notebook orders from Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Toshiba, which joined its client list last year. According to sources, Inventec may land another new client from Japan this year.Source: DigiTimes
