Taiwan TFT LCD producers made record shipments in January

Benefiting from recovering LCD monitor demand, Taiwanese TFT LCD producers achieved record shipments in January. However, since all of them have almost reached full capacity production, further shipment increases will be limited until new capacity is brought online.While AU Optronics (AUO) and Quanta Display expect to begin volume production at their fifth-generation (5G) lines in the second quarter, Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) has scheduled to ramp up the monthly capacity of its second line from 55,000 substrates currently to over 80,000 substrates by early second quarter and Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) plans to begin operating its 4.5G line in April.Source: DigiTimes
