ESI names Ian Corr VP of Service

20-year industry veteran to lead ESI's service team

Electro Scientific Industries Inc. (NasdaqTM: ESIO), a provider of production laser systems for microengineering applications, today announced its appointment of Ian Corr as vice president of service. Corr will report to Bob Chamberlain, ESI's senior vice president of customer operations.

"Ian's level of experience and customer service expertise is well-suited to sharpen ESI's ability to respond to our global customers," noted Nick Konidaris ESI's president and CEO. "We are pleased to welcome Ian as a member of the ESI team and look forward to his contributions to further driving our customer-committed focus."

In his new role, Corr will leverage his two decades of industry experience to enhance ESI's customer service offerings. "ESI's focus is right where it needs to be - on the customers' needs,": said Corr. "I am delighted to be leading the company's efforts to strengthen corporate services."

Corr holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in electronic engineering from James Watt University in Scotland. He also received a professional certificate in management for MBA coursework completed at the U.K.'s Open University.

In connection with his hiring, Corr received a grant under the Nasdaq rules of an option to purchase 25,000 shares of ESI stock at an exercise price of $20.25 per share, the fair market value on his first day of employment.
