Motorola to postpone order of MPx smartphone, sources say
Jul 15, 2004
Motorola is postponing ODM orders for its MPx100 smartphone to Compal Communications, according to local sources. Compal declined to comment on the news.
Motorola originally placed orders for three smartphone models based on Microsoft's Windows Mobile 2003 OS with Chi Mei Communication Systems (CMCS), Compal Communications and Compal Electronics, as reported on July 6. The sources indicated that CMCS still holds orders for the MPx220 model and Compal Electronics has the MPx.
Despite the delay of the MPx100, the company has two phone orders for Motorola in the second half, the C115 and C155, with the latter to be launched by the end of this quarter, the sources added.
