AMI Semi signs Agreement for Mentor Graphics IP

Jan 29, 2003

Mentor Graphics Corp. (Nasdaq: MENT) announced the selection of its Intellectual Property (IP) by AMI Semiconductor (AMIS).Under this agreement, AMIS will provide its customers with Mentor Graphics® Inventra_ IP, proven solutions for a wide range of design applications. "We selected Mentor Graphics because they are leading in IP solutions and will enhance our ability to offer standard and application-specific functions to our customers," said Vince Hopkin, vice president of digital ASICs at AMIS. "Our customers benefit from sourcing Mentor Graphics proven IP cores through us. They can concentrate on optimizing system architectures and designing functionality into their products, rather than worrying about allocation of precious engineering resources or project slips since the IP is proven and reusable." AMIS is a recognized leader in mixed–signal and mid–range digital ASIC design and manufacturing services for customers in a variety of markets from computer, communications and consumer to automotive, industrial and medical. Access to Inventra IP such as USB, Ethernet, CAN and IDE will enhance the functionality of the digital and mixed-signal ASICs AMIS manufactures for its customers. "Our cores are widely adopted, exhaustively verified and silicon proven, saving AMIS and its customers considerable engineering effort by reducing the risk of failure," said Michael Kaskowitz, general manager of the Intellectual Property Division of Mentor Graphics. "Our roadmap is to continue to lead the development of standards-compliant communication cores which are becoming a staple of AMIS’ customer’s designs." All of the Inventra cores now offered by AMIS are packaged for immediate implementation. The deliverables include fully-synthesizable core and test bench, example scripts, configuration GUIs (where applicable) and full documentation. A full listing of all the Inventra cores now available from AMIS can be found at http://www.amis.com/digital/ip_cores.cfm.
