Apr 07, 2004
Taiwan’s first LCD TV industrial park is expected to begin operation in the first quarter of 2005, according to the Tainan county government. The county government plans to sell plots in the 247-hectare area near the Tainan Science Park (TSP) through open bidding before the end of April. The results will be announced in May. The development of the park will require an initial investment of NT$14 billion. The plan was finalized in a meeting yesterday. Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) and HannStar Display are both planning to build seventh-generation (7G) TFT LCD plants in TSP and will probably set up bases in the LCD TV industrial park. HannStar plans to invest NT$8 billion on a 100-hectare land in the park, according to the Chinese-language Commercial Times. Upstream LCD TV makers may also enter the park. Source: www.digitimes.com
