Same time, same place, all fields of electronics

electronicChina, SEMICON China and PCIM China 2003In July 2002, the co-operation between Messe Muenchen and SEMI (Semiconductors Equipment and Materials International) was announced. As a result, from 12 to 14 March 2003, electronicChina is being held conjointly with SEMICON China in the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). It will now cover the all aspects of electronics: electronics components and assemblies, electronics production and photonics as well as components, assemblies and services for semiconductors. Just like the first event in 2002, electronicChina is taking place jointly with PCIM China with its own exhibition area and an extensive conference program. The 2002 electronicChina was a success from the outset: 284 exhibitors from 17 countries and more than 15,000 visitors attended this first International Trade Fair for Components, Assemblies, Electronics Production and Photonic Technologies.Because of its success at the first electronicChina, electronicChina Forum will continue in 2003. The Forum is organized by the Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie (ZVEI) and features three days discussing global trends and electronics demands concerning mobile applications and telecommunication. Companies from various fields in electronics components and assemblies will provide an insight to the technological challenges and upcoming trends, e.g. WLAN- and Bluetooth applications or future services and UMTS. The lectures will also consider the changes of different regions as sales markets or production locations. The latest developments in telecommunications electronics will be showcased by selected exhibitors of electronicChina during the afternoons. The international PCIM China Conference will feature Power Electronics, Intelligent Motion and Power Quality and will offer high-class professional lectures on power electronics during three days. All in all seven compact seminars will be held in the mornings of 12 to 14 March 2003 in the Sofitel Jin Jiang Oriental Pudong Shanghai Hotel. The scheduled topics are: Low Power Semiconductor Components, Packaging, High Power Semiconductor Components, Passive and Opto Components, High Voltage ICs, Low Voltage ICs and Power Systems. Chairmen to the seminars are Dr. Leo Lorenz of Infineon Technologies, Germany, Professor Xiangning He of Zhejiang University, China, Dr. Nakagawa, Toshiba, Japan, and Dr. Andreas Lindemann, IXYS, Germany; the lectures will be held by international specialists, e.g. from companies like Texas Instruments, National Semiconductor, Fairchild Semiconductor, Fuji Hitachi Power Semiconductor, Agilent Technologies and STMicroelectronics. After each lecture the conference attendees are invited to use the shuttle bus to electronicChina at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. In hall 4, the exhibition area of the PCIM, there will be poster lectures and discussions right at the stand of European, North American or Asian companies – theory meets practical experience. In 2003 ZM Communications, partner to the Munich Trade Fairs, is expecting a further growing interest among exhibitors and visitors; in 2002 nearly 350 attendees caught up on the latest technologies and trends in power electronics at the PCIM China Conference. An up-to-date development is the new "World of MEMS@ electronicChina": MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) capture more and more applications in electronics – mobile communications, sensor systems, optics and data transmission, automotive systems and medical technology. At the exhibition area of "World of MEMS@electronicChina", international MEMS-companies and system providers will display trend-setting MEMS-components, subsystems and production technologies; in short lectures exhibitors will introduce their innovative products from the areas RF-MEMS, Bio Chips, Inertial Sensors and MEMS production technologies at the user forum. At electronica in Munich "World of MEMS" 2002 – also organized by WTC, Wicht Technologie Consulting – has been a major magnet to the attendees. The Chinese market is still in an early stage concerning MEMS, so this MEMS user forum will be a first.More innovations are presented at the SEMICON China Technology Symposium – exclusively focussing on semiconductors. For the first time staged conjointly with electronicChina SEMICON China tops off the conference program of the trade show with lectures and panel discussions on the latest technological developments and up-to-date issues from the semiconductors industry. In 2003 the Technology Symposium has its main focus on Lithography, Materials, Advanced Processing, Quality/Reliability Control, Packaging Technology, Manufacturing Science and Flat Panel Display. In addition to the opportunity to get an update on all aspects of the electronics industry, electronicChina is also the place to build new and lasting business relationships. Like in 2002 an international "match making" will be held parallel to the trade show. Lead-managed by the Delegation of German Industry & Commerce Shanghai (AHK/gic Shanghai) and ZVEI international, exhibitors and Chinese companies with common interests are brought together. In the run-up to electronicChina, participating enterprises define the profile of an ideal business partner in the People’s Republic of China; based on this profile the AHK/gic Shanghai contacts suitable Chinese companies and invites them for individual talks to the trade show. The "match making" helps companies with experience in China as well as first time exhibitors to lay the foundation for a solid co-operation with a regional partner in Far East.About electronicChinaelectronicChina had its debut in 2002: 284 exhibitors from 17 countries took part in the regional key fair for components, assemblies, electronics production and photonics technology from 12 to 15 March 2002. Hall 1 of the newly built Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) exclusively addressed electronics production with companies like Samsung, Siemens Dematic or Assembleon; hall 2 was reserved for producers and distributors of electronics components and assemblies and the exhibitors of the PCIM Exhibition. The PCIM China Conference showcased the latest trends and research results from power electronics.More than 15,000 vistors attended the first electronicChina, almost 75% came from the east of China, Shanghai and neighbouring provinces like Jiangsu or Zhejiang. One tenth of the attendees came from overseas and other Asian countries.
