DEK produces ultra thin wire mesh screens
Mar 18, 2004
DEK has announced it has produced wire mesh screens that are so thin they can facilitate printing down to 25 microns, offering customers the opportunity to print in minute detail. Compared with 100-150 micron features as the normal industry standard for screen printing, DEK’s brand new ultra thin, high strength, wire mesh, now offers screen technology surpassed by none. Fine detail results can now be realised using this new mesh’s 20 micron thread diameter. With mesh openings of 65 microns and a wire diameter of just 20 microns, the new mesh is very open yet surprisingly strong. In fact, 60% of it is open space, which allows the ink to pass through very easily and the fineness of the mesh means the wire doesn’t interfere with the passage of ink – facilitating very detailed printing. This screen technology is already being used for a number of applications including nano-technology conducting elements, flux printing and some display work.
