Universal commended for contribution to leading edge assembly research

Universal Instruments’ Apex 2004 show-booth now boasts a plaque presented by the Center for Board Assembly Research (CBAR) at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The plaque commemorates Universal’s contribution to advancing assembly technology, by supporting CBAR with cutting edge technology and process improvement to further its research. Alex Goldstein, Director of Operations and Infrastructure at CBAR, presented the plaque to Ian McEvoy, President, Universal Instruments at the booth on the opening day of Apex 2004. Alex Goldstein said, "Universal is a valued supporter of CBAR’s mission, and has actively participated in a number of our activities, in addition to supporting the Center’s Advanced SMT Laboratory with state-of-the-art placement equipment and technical assistance. We are presenting this plaque today to show our appreciation of Universal’s support."Ian McEvoy said he was pleased that Universal was able to help CBAR further its leading edge research in electronics assembly technology. "CBAR is an accomplished research organization, and well-respected among influential academics and electronic businesses world-wide. We are delighted to support such an important contributor of advanced research on board assembly processes and systems."Currently Universal Instruments is involved with CBAR in research to create a standard communications interface to supersede GEM for factory communication.
