Tyco Electronics receives VISION award
Feb 27, 2004
Tyco Electronics, a business segment of Tyco International Ltd., has been awarded a coveted SMT VISION Award in the category of Soldering Equipment for their fully automatic insertion machine, the P300.
The award was presented by SMT Magazine's Publisher John Bubello to Holger Nollek, Manager of Application Tooling, and Dante Parenti, Product Manager, North America, during a Tuesday, February 24 ceremony that took place at the Hilton in Anaheim, CA.
The P300 machine is taking the industry by storm because it changes the rules of manufacturing. The flexible design allows customers to insert solder-free pins almost anywhere in the manufacturing process and, thus, reduce costs while improving quality and reliability.
P300 is an X-Y insertion machine for automatic insertion of pin, tab and socket products into printed circuit boards. The P300 is capable of inserting pins at a rate from 90 per minute up to 240 per minute with optional servo drives. With a maximum insertion area of 600 x 400 mm, the system features 0.02 mm repeatability.
Now in its 12th year, the SMT VISION Awards program is an annual celebration of product excellence in electronics surface mount assembly. Premier products based on the finest examples of creative advancement in technology in 15 key areas, including soldering equipment, are chosen by a distinguished panel of industry experts.
