Siemens Dematic Stand Review – booth 1023
Feb 26, 2004
Siemens Dematic stands always have a strong image and this booth was no exception. The other sure thing with Siemens is that they will bring the equipment, so you can touch it and see it, as well as bringing the people with the expertise to demonstrate it.
Bringing large amounts of equipment to any trade show is clear commitment to the industry and indeed to the region. The US market has a very hard ride over the last few years and it is refreshing to see that Siemens have kept the faith and continue to be active and aggressive in this market. They have products that suit the needs of the domestic suppliers as well as having the support network in place.
The booth was busy for every one of the three days. Visitors were getting a detailed tour of the equipment as well as enjoying the presentations that outlined the new products Siemens Dematic had brought to the market.
Some highlights include:
Siplace Pro Software Version 2.0
Siemens Dematic Electronic Assembly Systems, Inc. (EAS) demonstrated its new Siplace Pro Software Version 2.0. Siplace Pro 2.0 is the programming system for all new and existing Siplace machine generations. Siplace Pro continues to connect with the customer needs that are critical to SMT success such as single program download to the entire Siplace line, multiple products in a single setup (group setup), custom report capabilities, and wizards to simplify complex tasks. It also provides complete capabilities for data preparation, program generation, machine optimization, line balancing, and job scheduling.
Siplace Pro improves SMT factory performance at many levels due to an easy to learn user interface and simple to maintain central database. New product introductions are proved offline with Virtual Product Builds that can help eliminate first run placement problems and related scrap. Long term maintenance and integrity of the production data is easily controlled since a centralized database storage point is used.
With this release over 150 customer requests have been added to include one click global where-used list, custom report generation, restriction editor, support of long board assembly, automatic recipe download via PCB barcode, custom feeder creation, and custom nozzle creation.
Excellent machines and software work hand in hand to increase factory utilization and quality and, at the same time, reduce costs.
Siplace HF/3 placement machine
Siemens Dematic set the new benchmark for ultra flexible component placement with the introduction of the Siplace HF. Now, just one year later, Siemens Dematic has expanded the HF platform with the introduction of the Siplace HF/3 placement machine.
Offering reconfigurable placement heads, the highly versatile HF/3 can be configured for applications demanding high-speed chip placement, high flexibility end-of-line placement or a combination of both. This versatility is unique to the HF/3 because it combines 2 completely independent processing areas into a single machine. Passive components down to 0201 can be placed at high speed in the first processing area while large odd form parts up to 1.0" tall are placed in the second. Having 180 feeder inputs available, the HF/3 is a great fit for high mix-high changeover environments and can also handle NPI requirements in a single machine.
To protect our customer’s previous investment in tape feeders, nozzles, and vision files the HF/3 is designed to offer commonality in these areas allowing the HF/3 to seamlessly integrate into existing Siplace lines.
Tom Foley, HF product manager at Siemens Dematic EAS Americas, states: "For a long time the typical placement line layout consisted of a relatively inflexible chip shooter followed by a flexible placement machine with limited throughput. Our customers, especially in North America, are asking for placement machines that can achieve high throughput when required--- but not at the expense of high changeover times and limited component range. The HF platform is not burdened by the flexibility limitations found in conventional placement machines. Offering placement head modularity, the HF platform can be easily reconfigured whenever the customer’s needs change". This unique flexibility ensures that the HF machine will be a valuable asset on the production floor for many years to come."
