SEI expands thin film chip resistor offering
Feb 09, 2004
Resistor manufacturer SEI Electronics, Inc. has expanded their offering of precision nichrome thin film chip resistors, the RNC Series, to provide tighter tolerances down to 0.01% and temperatures coefficients to +/- 5ppm per ∞C. "With these recent additions to our precision nichrome offering, SEI now has one of the broadest product offerings in this area," said Kory Schroeder, SEI Product Engineering Manager. "Tolerances less than 0.1% and TCR’s lower than 25ppm were previously available only with tantalum nitride. Our precision nichrome RNC Series now provides a lower cost alternative to tantalum nitride for applications that are not moisture sensitive."Typical applications for the RNC Series of resistors include precision circuits in telecommunications, instrumentation, military, medical equipment, and power supplies. Pricing for the RNC Series (0603-1206 case sizes, 0.1% 25ppm) of resistors is approximately $0.15 each, with lead times ranging from stock to 6 weeks. 0805 and 1206 case sizes in 0.1% tolerance and 25ppm are considered standard for values between 100 ohm and 100 K Ohm.
