Elcoteq expands customer portfolio through partnership with Kathrein
Jan 15, 2004
Elcoteq Network Corporation and KATHREIN-Werke KG, a globally known manufacturer of communications technology products, have agreed on substantial co-operation under which Elcoteq will begin to manufacture various global systems for mobile communications (GSM) and universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) related subsystems for Kathrein. Production is planned to start during first quarter 2004 at Elcoteq's plant in Pécs, Hungary. "Elcoteq is a partner that is as dedicated to quality and reliability in all its operations as we are. Elcoteq's service offering can help us to bring new products to the markets faster than before. Shorter reaction times to changing market conditions and the much faster introduction of new products to the market allow a wider range of products and the expansion to new regions," said Prof. Dr. Anton Kathrein, owner and CEO of KATHREIN-Werke KG. "There are a lot of similarities between Elcoteq and Kathrein: both companies are focusing on communications technology and both are leading players in their respective fields. By combining Elcoteq's and Kathrein's expertise we truly have great opportunities ahead of us," said Mr Jukka Jäämaa, president, Communications Network Equipment/Industrial Electronics, Elcoteq Europe.
