SMTA recognises outstanding authors

The SMTA has announced that the winners from SMTA International 2003 are Andrew Mawer, Motorola Semiconductor, and Dr. Paul Wang, Sun Microsystems, in a tie for Best of Conference between each of their papers. The Best of Proceedings Paper winning authors are Dave Nelson and Hector Pallavicini of Raytheon Company and Qian Zhang, Paul Friesen, and Abhijit Dasgupta of CALCE Electronic Products at the University of Maryland. Dwayne Shirley from the University of Toronto was awarded the Best International Paper.Mawer was awarded the Best of Conference Paper for his work entitled "A Comparison between Power and Thermal Cycling for a FC PBGA". The paper describes comparative power versus thermal board-level cycling performed on a 119 pin flip chip (FC) PBGA test vehicle between room temperature and 125°C.Wang was also awarded the Best of Conference Paper. His paper explains the RSTP model, the goal of which is to provide a streamlined technical working model and to facilitate the migration from product design, engineering and reliability verification, process development and qualification, high yield manufacturing, to projection of future product and process quality.The authors will formally be presented their awards at the SMTA Annual Meeting during SMTA International 2004.
