Innovations 2004 honors excellence in Consumer technology design and engineering

Record Number of Entries Vie for Prestigious AwardsWith more than 750 entries, the largest in its 14-year history, the Innovations Awards announced its 2004 honorees. Sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), the Innovations Awards highlight product advancements in technology design and engineering. Winning entries will be showcased at the 2004 International CES, the world’s largest annual tradeshow for consumer technology, January 8-11, 2004. The Innovations award program provides manufacturers and developers the opportunity to have their products judged by an independent panel of journalists, designers and engineers. Products receive industry-wide recognition while on display in the Las Vegas Convention Center Silver Exhibits during the International CES. A special Innovations 2004 Press Preview Reception will be held Tuesday, January 6 from 5-8 p.m. in the Silver Exhibits to view the honorees. Companies planning product demonstrations that evening include: Audiovox, Avdeco, DirecTV, Eton Corp., Flying Mole, Gibson Audio, KVH Industries, Logitech, Pataco, Pelham Sloane, Pepper Computer, Philips, Sanyo Fisher, Sony Ericsson and Wildseed. Recognized as a top consumer technology awards program, Innovations 2004 distinguishes the best products in design and engineering in the categories of accessibility, accessories, audio, computer hardware, digital imaging, electronic gaming, home appliances, home data networking, integrated home systems, mobile electronics, mobile office, office equipment, online/Internet, personal electronics, retail resource, satellite systems, software/embedded technology, telephones,video and wireless communications.New to the Innovations 2004 exhibit, the IDSA Design Awareness Program gives CES attendees the opportunity to explore further the importance of industrial design in developing innovative products. Virtually all Innovations honorees were designed by industrial designers, professionals who shape products to fit the user and achieve market success.
