Dec 04, 2003

President and CEO of Solectron further strengthens board's leadershipAdobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) announced the appointment of Mike Cannon to its board of directors. Cannon is president and CEO of Solectron Corporation, an $11 billion global manufacturing and supply chain management services company. Cannon brings more than 25 years of operations and technology experience to his role as an Adobe board member. Before joining Solectron, he spent six years as president and CEO of Maxtor Corporation, a leading global provider of hard disk drives and storage systems. During this time, he drove a significant increase in the company's revenues, built Maxtor into an industry leader and diversified the company's business through a strategy of internal and acquisition-related growth. "Mike's track record of managing and growing large technology operations provides an important perspective to Adobe's board of directors," said Bruce Chizen, president and CEO of Adobe. "As we build out our core solution platforms and related business strategies, Mike will help drive decisions that serve the best interests of our customers and shareholders. His engineering, operations and executive management background complements the other board members and their individual areas of expertise." Cannon joins the existing members of Adobe's board of directors, including: John E. Warnock, co-chairman of the board; Charles M. Geschke, co-chairman of the board; Bruce R. Chizen, president and chief executive officer; Carol Mills Baldwin, independent consultant; James E. Daley, retired, executive vice president, Electronic Data Systems Corporation; Colleen M. Pouliot, attorney; Robert Sedgewick, professor of Computer Science, Princeton University; and Delbert Yocam, independent consultant. Cannon studied mechanical engineering at Michigan State University and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He will begin serving on Adobe's board in December 2003.
