Sanmina-SCI achieves certification for AS9100

AS9100 certification expands Defense and Aerospace Systems World class quality performance Sanmina-SCI Corporation (Nasdaq: SANM) has passed a National Quality Assurance (NQA) audit and achieved AS9100 certification for its Defense and Aerospace Systems division, headquartered in Huntsville, AL.This is a key milestone in the company's strategy to offer a fully accredited value stream for defense and aerospace customers. All of Sanmina-SCI's defense and aerospace locations, including product development and manufacturing facilities, were subject to the AS9100 audit and all sites received certification."This is a significant accomplishment in meeting the expectations of customers in the Defense & Aerospace sector and confirming Sanmina-SCI as a world class supplier of defense and aerospace electronics and value-added services," said Jason Chamberlain, Senior Vice President of Defense and Aerospace Systems.The AS9100 quality system for suppliers to the aerospace industry was issued August 2001. It was developed in the United States as AS9000 in 1997, expanded to address international aerospace requirements and is now approved by aerospace companies in Asia and Europe as well.The standard has approximately 80 additional requirements and 18 amplifications of ISO's 9001:2000 standard and is technically equivalent to AECMA's EN 9100 for European aerospace suppliers. AS9100 offers the opportunity for aerospace companies to implement a more effective, value-generating quality management system.
