Pro-mations releases its Version 8 non-contact soldering cell
Oct 28, 2003
Pro-mation Inc. has introduced "Version 8" 60 W Diode Laser Cell with Vision Guidance and Multi-axis Cartesian Robot. This in-line soldering station claims to combine superior performance, easy to use software, and precision movement to selectively solder most topside applications. Built on an precision welded frame, Pro-mation’s "Version 8" work cell operates within a small footprint, yet is packed with numerous features including a 60 watt diode laser, a 4 axis cartesian robot with enhanced Adept controls, Vision Guidance, and an optional micro camera interfaced into a high-resolution panel for "Real Time" process viewing.Other benefits experienced are: Diode lasers operate very efficiently vs. competing technologies (low-energy input) and have outstanding life (10,000 hours of useful life). The Diode laser can be precisely controlled and is highly repeatable, and provides a highly focused heating zone, resulting in better control to and around the component. Finally, due to the speed of the process, results yield a reduction in solder grain size and intermetallic oxide formation, creating superior joint properties.Source: PCBnewsline
