New international trade association formed for ultracapacitator industry
Sep 29, 2003
Kilofarad International (KFI) in affiliation with the Electronic Components, Assemblies & Materials Association (ECA) has announced KFI's launch as a new trade association formed to promote and represent the global ultracapacitor industry. Claude Letourneau, KFI's executive director, said that the formation of KFI is a critical milestone in the process of establishing ultracapacitors as mainstream energy storage systems for the transportation and power generation industries. "For ultracapacitors to be accepted as a mainstream solution, we must meet end-users' perception of what it means to be mainstream", Letourneau said. "KFI can help to accelerate the adoption of ultracapacitors by providing a forum in which the ultracapacitor industry can work together on non-competitive activities, including education programs, development of uniform technical standards, and advocacy with governmental agencies to create an appropriate regulatory framework."KFI's membership includes like-minded industry stakeholders such as Maxwell Technologies, Inc., Delco Remy International Inc., the United States Advanced Battery Consortium (USABC - an umbrella organization of DaimlerChrysler, Ford, General Motors and the US Department of Energy); Delphi Corporation and AeroVironment Inc.Source: PCBnewsline
