Xilinx VP to discuss process technology opportunities at CICC
Sep 19, 2003
What: Xilinx Featured in Future of Technology Panel at CICCWhen: Tuesday, September 23, 8:00 pmWhere: DoubleTree Hotel (Oak Ballroom), San Jose, CA, USATechnology: Falling Short of Product Developer Needs?CICC is an ideal opportunity for members of the press to learn about IC development and original, first published technical work and innovative circuit techniques that tackle practical problems. This lively panel will address the opportunities and challenges surrounding 130 nm and 90 nm process technology. Each member of the panel will have the opportunity to express and support their position on this very important topic.Erich Goetting, vice president and general manager of the Advanced Products Group at Xilinx, will discuss how Moore's Law is fundamentally alive and well. He will explain how, over the years, virtually every generational advance in process technology has brought with it new capabilities, new economics, and new development challenges -- challenges in IC manufacturing, IC design, IC test, and in applying the devices in the development of next- generation systems. A key strategy of winning product design teams is figuring out how to leverage the advantages and minimize the disadvantages of each new generation of technology. Goetting notes that Moore's Law, however, is getting significantly more capital and design intensive, with the end result being that fewer companies will be able to participate in leading-edge chip manufacturing and design.Panelists include: Scott Crowder, Technology. Development. Manager, IBM Microelectronics, Erich Goetting, Vice President and General Manager, Advanced Products Group, Xilinx, Dan Lenoski, Vice President, Engineering Routing Technology Group, Cisco, Jack Sun, Senior Director, LogicTechnology Division, TSMC, Simon Yang, Vice President, Technology Development Center, SMIC, and a panelist from the CICC audience.Audience Panel MemberIn addition to the above well-known panelists, one spot is reserved for a CICC attendee to be filled when the panel begins. Attendees wanting to be a candidate for this panel spot will express their interest in advance, and prepare statements with their views on the panel issues. The panel audience will listen to all the candidates, and then vote to select the one who best represents the audience's views.Registration InformationOn site registration begins on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 7:00 a.m. For more information about the CICC conference and a complete schedule of events, please visit www.ieee-cicc.org.Source: PCBnewsline
