Elcoteq Network Corporation has announced that Elcoteq Americas‚ Monterrey, Mexico facility has been awarded the 2003 Quality Award by the government of the state of Nuevo Leon, Mexico. The award recognizes those institutions, organizations, or companies who have achieved a level of total quality management. The PNLC (Premio Nuevo Leon a la Calidad) is the equivalent of the European Foundation for Quality Management Award or the Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award. Ninety-one companies were entered in the awards program and only three awards were given, two in the Education category and Elcoteq's award in the Industry category. A trophy and certificate were presented to a group of forty Elcoteq employees at a ceremony held by the governor of Nuevo Leon and state dignitaries at the Foro Pro-Cultura of Nuevo Leon on July 10, 2003. "We are extremely proud of the accomplishments in the area of quality that Elcoteq has achieved globally, as well as in Monterrey," said Ari Raisanen, director of operations for Elcoteq Americas. "In July, Saul Vera became Elcoteq Monterrey‚s first Master Black Belt, and we are planning to establish a Six Sigma training center at our Monterrey facilities. Globally, Elcoteq has three Master Black Belts and forty-three Black Belts. In addition, Elcoteq Americas is hosting Technology Forecaster‚s Quarterly Forum for Electronics Manufacturers Outsourcing and Supply Chain. It will be held on September 9, 2003 at our Monterrey plant and will be preceded by a Media/Analyst day on September 8.
