Compact Profiler handles lead-free heat
Jul 28, 2003
UK-based Embedded Data Systems Ltd has introduced its latest SolderStar Neptune system specifically aimed at reflow and wave soldering applications. Protected by a lead–free ready heat shield incorporating ‘space age’ materials, the Neptune datalogger is said to be able to travel with the PCB being soldered through any reflow or wave process, measuring the temperature profile at specific sites of interest. The uniquely compact datalogger design claims to achieve a 9mmx50mm form factor whilst utilising standard Type K connectors. This allows easier profiling of narrow pcb’s whilst removing potential application problems which can occur on ovens with restricted tunnel height. The low power Neptune datalogger is available in 4,6 or 8 channel variants and can run for up to 12 months on a single pair of low cost lithium coin cells. Supplied complete with ‘Profile Central’, a comprehensive data analysis, process documentation and management software tool, the system provides automatic set-up by way of pre-configured machine and solder paste libraries. The system benefits from a comprehensive user guide, and dedicated website with user support forum (www.solderstar.com).Source: PCBnewsline
