Ascentech provides product reliability testing to Henkel
Feb 22, 2008
Ascentech, LLC, North American distributor for GEN3 Systems Ltd. products, has provided Henkel Corporation's Electronics Technology Center in Irvine California, with laboratory equipment for Surface Insulation Resistance testing and for Solderability testing.
In announcing the purchase, Brian J. Toleno, Ph.D., Director of Technical Service, Electronics, Henkel Corporation, said "Both the MUST III Solderability Testing and the AUTO-SIR Surface Insulation Resistance Testing Systems provide Henkel with the advanced technology necessary for maintaining our high standards for providing customers with materials that meet and exceed their requirements for product reliability and quality."
The MUST III System is a wetting balance testing system capable of testing to all relevant solder standards including ICE, MIL-STD, IPO/EYE/JADE, etc. The MUST System 3 measures the solderability of a printed circuit board and/or component's metallic terminations by documenting the wetting curve of the unit under test. The MUST System 3 is appropriate for testing all devices including multi-leaded components as well as SMT and BGA devices.
The AUTO-SIR System measures the surface insulation resistance, typically on test coupons, during artificially elevated temperature and humidity condition cycles. The goal of SIR is to catch dangerous propensities for failure mechanisms, such as unacceptable electrical leakage under humid conditions, corrosion or metal migration. Tests performed are defined by the following Standards bodies: IPC, IEC, ISO, J-STD, Bellcore and others.
