Asustek and Foxconn competing for 450,000 STB orders from CHT

Asustek Computer and Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) have been selected as qualifying tenders to bid for a 450,000 set-top box (STB) order to be released by Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), according to sources at CHT.
CHT is expected to finalize the STB deal within a week at the earliest, said the sources, noting the STB procurement project is part of the company's plan to boost the number of its MOD (multimedia on demand) subscribers to one million by the end of 2008.
