Jan 15, 2008
Innolux Display announced it expects staggering growth to continue over the next five years, with a goal to turn in over NT$1 trillion (US$30.78 billion) in sales in 2013. Over the past five years, Innolux has been growing fast. In 2007, it delivered a 48% growth to reach NT$155 billion in sales, according to the company.
Looking ahead, Innolux hopes to have a 50% annual growth each year in the next five years so as to achieve the NT$1 trillion sales goal, the company added. The company said that Innolux's (sixth generation) 6G panel plant is expected to move in equipment in December 2008, and start volume production in May 2009. While the new plant is designed to house a total monthly capacity of 120,000 substrates, the first-phase of construction will invest NT$65 billion to install a monthly capacity of 90,000 substrates.
The second phase will ramp up the capacity to 120,000 substrates, and the total investments for the 6G plant will be NT$80 billion, Tuan said. In 2008 Innolux will also increase its 5G capacity to 87,000 substrates monthly from the present 82,000 substrates. When the 6G line becomes operational, it will focus on monitor and TV applications, Tuan said. The 4.5G line will then be mainly responsible for putting out for small- to medium-size handset applications, and the 5G line will focus on medium-size and notebook panels, he added.
