Formosa Sumco sees big profits from scrap wafer sales to solar cell makers, reports paper

Taiwan-based silicon wafer supplier Formosa Sumco Technology (FST) has seen 25% of its pre-tax profits of NT$2.46 billion (US$75.66 million) for the first three quarters come from scrap wafers sold to solar cell makers, according to the Economic Daily News (EDN).

With plans to sharply ramp up its 12-inch wafer capacity, FST can be expected to reap more profits from scrap wafer sales, the newspaper said
